It acts as proof that an individual has the necessary competence and knowledge to work as a plant operator within the industry of construction. By holding this CPCS card, the employees can become confident that they are safe. There are three types of CPCS card: trained operator card or red card; competent operator card or Blue CPCS Card and the tester card.

The blue CPCS card or the competent operator card shows the employers that the delegate has the necessary training, experience, and technical skills to perform the various tasks required in the operation. This blue card has a validity time of 5 years that can be renewed again. To renew this card, an individual must qualify for the refresher course.

Eligibility criteria

You are eligible for this card, if you have achieved a diploma in level 2 NVQ in construction or completed an apprenticeship including the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institution Craft Certificate.

To get this card, the time taken for the completion of the CITB test is 45 minutes in which you have to answer 50 questions based on multiple choices.

For this blue CPCS card, you must need to hold a red CPCS trained operator card. This card is accredited by CITB. And after the successful completion of this course, an individual will be provided a certificate.
